For my first year, I taught Grade 9 and 10 Art classes. The Ontario Art Curriculum is very well organized and provides fantastic guidelines to help develop student artistic skills and cultivate art interests. At BCC, we developed our program so that the Junior years are all about the basics. Students are given the opportunity to learn the Elements of Art, Principle of Designs, tenets of Art History (Egyptian, Gothic, Renaissance, Canadian (Group of 7, Northwest Coastal) and experiment with Art Mediums (Paint, Sculpture, Printmaking, Collage) so they will be prepared to specialize and develop their portfolios in the Senior Art Classes.
